Overview

Pipsgrowth EX18079 HullGB combines a three-line Hull moving average with a Gaussian volatility band to trigger breakout entries on XAUUSD M5. The Hull component is not a single line — it is a triplet built from the high, close, and low of the chart timeframe, each instance computed in-process from weighted moving averages of half-period and full-period LWMA components smoothed with a sqrt(period)-bar weighted average. The Hull lines shade green when their slope exceeds SidewaysThreshold (0.004) on the upside and pink when it falls below the negative threshold; gray means the slope is in the dead zone. EX18079's signal starts with a band breakout: the close of the last bar must print above (or below) the upper (lower) Gaussian band and the two bars before that must have closed on the opposite side, which is a real two-bar penetration rather than a tick breach. The breakout also has to travel at least MinBreakDistance (0.3) ATR away from the Gaussian line, sit on the correct side of the higher-timeframe EMA(50) trend filter, and show a positive Gaussian slope in the trade direction. That gives the base signal.

What makes the EA a heavyweight is the confirmation layer that sits on top of the base signal. Heiken Ashi is rebuilt in a custom class (CHeikenAshiCalc) that walks the last 20 bars to converge the running HA open/close and returns a green-or-red color for the most recent bar; the SuperTrend is also rebuilt in a class (CSuperTrendCalc) that walks the bar history bar-by-bar to compute upper/lower ATR envelopes and assigns a +1 or -1 direction. The SuperTrend period and multiplier are independent inputs (22 and 3.0 by default) and the source price is configurable across seven options. A separate IsStrongTrend() check uses the spread between Hull high and Hull low versus Hull close slope to filter for genuine directional pressure: both the band spread and the slope must exceed StrongTrendSpreadPercent and StrongTrendSlopePercent (0.03% and 0.01% by default). The breakout will not fire unless the user has toggled these filters on, and the Enable switches are individual so the operator can choose how many layers to run.

The multi-timeframe stack is unusual. Three independent timeframes can be activated (MultiTF1, MultiTF2, MultiTF3 defaulting to H4, H8, and Monthly), each running its own EMA(50) check via MultiTimeframeConfirmation(); all enabled timeframes must agree on the trade direction. The 10th input, MultiTFMAPeriod, sets the period on all three. This is a slow stack — the H8 and Monthly timeframes are essentially macro trend filters — so signals are infrequent but filtered for multi-day alignment. Optional extras include a volume filter that requires current bar volume to be at least VolumeThresholdPercent of the 20-bar average, an engulfing-pattern filter with volume confirmation, and a minimum-band-distance filter that blocks breakouts unless the price has moved MinBandDistanceATRFactor (0.2) ATR from the band.

Risk and trade management are separate. The lot is fixed via the Lots input (0.1 default) — there is no risk-percent sizing — and the SL is computed each tick as ATR_MultiplierSL (1.2) multiplied by the current ATR(14) reading. The TP is a fixed 160 points regardless of regime. Trailing stop, when enabled, ratchets the stop to bid-minus-1.2-ATR for longs (mirror for shorts) and only moves forward; breakeven moves the stop to entry once price has moved 1.2 ATR in profit. The dynamic lock-profit feature steps the stop up every LockProfitEvery_X_Pips (20 pips) of profit, pulling it back LockMinusBuffer_Pips (10 pips) from the latest step, so on a 60-pip profit the stop sits at 50 pips. Max open trades is capped at 5, and AllowOnlyProfitableAdditions blocks new entries unless every existing position on the symbol is at least MinProfitPerTradeAdd_Pips (50 pips) in the green — a stacking discipline rarely seen on retail EAs. A drawdown breaker shuts the EA off when floating drawdown exceeds MaxDrawdownPercent (10%) of balance. Consecutive-signal logic counts bars with the same base signal and only fires after RequiredConsecutiveSignals (2 default) bars agree, which trades frequency for cleanliness.

Session and operational gates: UseTimeFilter restricts trading to TradingStartHour–TradingEndHour server time (8 to 20), and Friday after 16:00 is always blocked. AvoidHighImpactNews is left as an input flag but the .mq5 has no actual news-event source wired in — it is a placeholder. AutoTuneFilters() recomputes MinATR, breakDistance, and band multiplier from the live spread and the broker's point size, an unusual feature for a M5 breakout EA. The on-chart info panel renders a 10-row table of live indicator states — Hull color, Heiken Ashi color, SuperTrend direction, strong-trend readouts, TF1/TF2/TF3 bull/bear flags, current volume, engulfing pattern status, and band distance — with per-row YES/NO badges so the operator can see which filter is currently blocking a signal. Strategy Deep Dive

EX18079 runs a custom in-process Hull triplet computed from high/close/low series via the sqrt(p)-weighted Hull formula, paints each line green or pink based on a SidewaysThreshold (0.004) slope gate, and overlays a Gaussian volatility band of Length 10 on close to define the breakout envelope. A base signal is logged when the last closed bar breaks the band by at least 0.3 ATR and aligns with the higher-timeframe EMA(50) and Gaussian slope. Six independent confirmation layers then each contribute a YES/NO vote: Heiken Ashi color (custom class), SuperTrend direction (custom class with ATR 22 / 3.0 default), 3-of-3 Hull-line color agreement, the strong-trend spread/slope filter, three optional multi-timeframe EMA(50) checks (H4/H8/MN defaults), and optional volume / engulfing / band-distance filters. The consecutive-signal counter requires 2 bars of agreement before the lot is sent, and the trade is sized at the fixed 0.1 lot. With the position live, the management loop applies a 1.2×ATR trailing stop, a 1.2×ATR breakeven, and the dynamic lock-profit ratchet that steps the SL up every 20 pips of profit minus a 10-pip buffer, while the drawdown breaker and the Gaussian-midline opposite-close rule sit on top.

Entry Signal

A buy signal triggers when the last closed bar prints above the upper Gaussian band (with the prior two bars below it), the close is at least 0.3 ATR beyond the Gaussian line, the price sits above the higher-timeframe EMA(50), and the Gaussian slope is rising. Sell signals mirror the same conditions on the lower band. Confirmation layers — Heiken Ashi color, SuperTrend direction, 3-of-3 Hull-line color agreement, the multi-TF EMA(50) stack on H4/H8/MN, and the strong-trend spread/slope filter — each have an enable switch, and the EA requires RequiredConsecutiveSignals (default 2) consecutive closed bars to agree before sending the order.

Exit Signal

Exits run on three independent triggers: a fixed TP at 160 points from entry, an emergency close when the current close crosses back through the Gaussian midline against the position direction, and the drawdown breaker that closes the EA when floating drawdown exceeds 10% of balance. The trailing stop ratchets the SL forward to 1.2× ATR behind price on every tick, the breakeven rule lifts the SL to entry once 1.2× ATR of profit is banked, and the dynamic lock-profit mechanism steps the SL up every 20 pips of profit (minus a 10-pip buffer) so locked profit accumulates as the trade runs.

Stop Loss

Stop loss is computed every tick as 1.2×ATR(14) below the entry (or above for shorts). The trailing stop ratchets the SL forward at the same 1.2×ATR distance, and the breakeven rule promotes the SL to entry once price has moved 1.2×ATR in profit. A drawdown breaker disables trading when equity drawdown exceeds 10% of balance.

Take Profit

Take profit is a fixed 160 points regardless of the current ATR or regime. The same 160-point target is attached to every order, so the EA does not scale targets to volatility — a setting that is consistent with the lock-profit mechanism that takes over once the trade is in profit.

Best For

Single-symbol XAUUSD M5 traders who want a heavily filtered breakout engine and can leave the EA running through the 8:00–20:00 server window. The $100 minimum deposit matches the EA's capital assumptions, and a low-spread ECN or raw-spread broker is required because the 0.3 ATR break-distance filter and the Gaussian band envelope will reject entries when spreads widen. The multi-TF stack (H4 / H8 / Monthly) makes this a slow-fire trend EA rather than a scalper, so it fits traders comfortable with positions that may take days to resolve.
